Guidance Note (Pilot for field testing)

The purpose of this guidance note is to provide practical steps for staff and volunteers working within the IFRC network 1 (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies) on how to take disability-inclusive actions. It aims to ensure that all operations and programmes consider the needs and rights of persons with disabilities in all their diversity at every stage of the project cycle, from assessment and planning to implementation and evaluation. By following the recommendations outlined, programme staff can ensure their actions become more inclusive, accountable and accessible, leading to more effective and equitable assistance. This guidance note emphasises collaboration with organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), the use of disaggregated data to inform planning and monitoring, and the removal of barriers to ensure access and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities. Through these actions, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement seeks to uphold its commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that no one is left behind in the activities undertaken by the National Societies and secretariat offices of the IFRC network.
