International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), observed on December 3rd, serves as an annual opportunity to promote an inclusive, accessible, and sustainable world for persons with disabilities. This year, IFRC and the Finnish Red Cross (FRC) and are proud to host a virtual event to raise awareness about the significance of disability inclusion, share best practices, and introduce a new tool designed to facilitate disability-inclusive programming across our projects.
1. Raise Awareness: Emphasising the importance of disability inclusion in the work of the IFRC Network, demonstrating the positive impact it has on communities and individuals, and highlight and build on the momentum around disability inclusion at the 2024 statutory meetings.
2. Share Good Practices: Offer a platform for National Societies to share their experiences, lessons learned, and successful practices in promoting disability inclusion within their operations.
3. Launch Resources
- Introduce and demonstrate the new programmatic guidance tool developed by IFRC and FRC to facilitate disability-inclusive practices, ensuring that practitioners have accessible resources to guide and improve their work (see links below)

Introduce the idea of a working group on disability inclusion within the IFRC Network, proposed by Turkish Red Crescent.
