In a world marked by intersecting crises, conflict, climate shocks, and displacement, the imperative to protect the dignity, rights, and well-being of all people – especially those most at risk – has never been greater. Throughout 2024, the IFRC and its 191 member National Societies have continued to uphold the principles of humanity and impartiality, by ensuring that Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI) is at the heart of our humanitarian actions.
In 2024, our network reached 24.3 million people through PGI programming. This increase of 21% reflects our deepening commitment to serving those most affected by violence, discrimination, and exclusion.
In 2023, the IFRC Protection, Gender, and Inclusion (PGI) teams worldwide continued to meet the objectives outlined in IFRC’s Strategy 2030 and the IFRC PGI Policy (2022). Committed to ensuring safe programming at the community level, creating secure and inclusive workplaces, implementing strong risk management practices, and embedding gender and diversity analyses, the team showcased impactful achievements, which are briefly detailed in this report.
