Case Study: Assistance to Kibera Pride Children's Home in Kenya

The Kenya Red Cross has partnered with Kibera Pride a non-profit, registered NGO with a mandate to provide foster/home care for children in vulnerable situations in Kibera, one of the world’s largest informal settlements and located inside Nairobi. In particular, Kenya Red Cross provided various supports for children after Kibera Pride experienced a fire.

Kenya Red Cross implemented a Sexual and Reproductive Health and SGBV project, “Hope beyond COVID 19”, that delivered services to populations in vulnerable situations in Nairobi County. Part of the project deliverables was setting up a GBV unit, where survivors of violence could access free comprehensive medical services. Working closely with the Nairobi City County Government, KRCS set up a fabricated container that will be utilized as a GBV Unit where girls and women can access clinical care, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, and a child therapy room.

Case Study: Pakistan Red Crescent PGI Services for Child and Adult Migrant Returnees to Afghanistan

As part of the Pakistan Red Crescent response to the return of Afghan migrants from Pakistan to Afghanistan, programing has been established for children and adults in vulnerable situations. The main features of the program implemented by PRCS for Afghan returnees include the establishment of Humanitarian Services Point (HSP) in Torkham Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a medical care facility at Chaman in Baluchistan province, and provision of essential services such as health care, safe drinking water, and gender-sensitive sanitation facilities targeting 60,000 people under an IFRC supported operation. The program integrates Protection, Gender, and Inclusion (PGI) and Community Engagement and Accountability to ensure the dignity, safety, and participation of diverse groups including children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

Case Study: Chad Red Cross CFS in Refugee Settings

CFS are designated safe spaces in evacuation centers or affected communities where children can play, learn, and receive psychosocial support in a structured and protective environment. These spaces are crucial for restoring a sense of normalcy, fostering resilience, and reducing the risks of violence, exploitation, and abuse.
